Miami-Dade Court Confronts Driver of Stolen Range Rover in Tragic Triple Fatality Case

On Wednesday, a 26-year-old man who is suspected of killing three people—a teacher, her husband, and her mother—while evading law enforcement in a pilfered Range Rover showed up in Miami-Dade County court.

The case of three charges of vehicular homicide was brought before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Michelle Delancy by Rodney Rodriguez, who needed a translator.

In court, Rodriguez’s defense lawyer informed Delancy that he was still in talks with prosecutors who were in contact with the relatives of the three deceased victims.

The tragic collision occurred on August 31, 2021, at around 6:20 a.m. near the junction of Southwest 92 Avenue and Sunset Drive.

The victims were her mother, Elena Chacon Diaz, husband, Adalberto Hernandez Cereijo, and preschool instructor Karina Diaz Chacon of a private school.

At The Creative Learning Center, a private school in Miami-Dade’s The Crossings neighborhood, Diaz, 49, was adored by coworkers, students, and parents.

Chacon, 75, was in need of treatment since her kidneys were failing, so Diaz and her 51-year-old husband Hernandez were headed there.

Delancy urged Rodriguez to come back to court on April 22nd for a plea conference.
