Regarding a June murder case from the Gladeview neighborhood of the county, Miami-Dade police on Wednesday arrested a convicted felon multiple times.

Police stated that while Wayne Sanders, 29, of Orlando, was shooting at another woman during an incident, he accidentally shot Shakeria Denise Williams, 18, who was a “innocent victim.” Sanders is suspected of killing Williams while she was sitting in a car.

At approximately 11 p.m. on June 1, near the 2000 block of Northwest 65th Street, a shooting occurred, according to Miami-Dade police.

Authorities say that when Sanders and a lady got into a fight in the parking lot, Williams was in the rear seat of a BMW.

The woman tossed her smartphone back at Sanders after he hurled an alcoholic beverage at her, according to an arrest warrant, which escalated the confrontation from verbal to violent.

The woman armed herself as Sanders walked back to his car, according to the warrant, after she saw him threaten to murder her on CCTV.

According to the police, Sanders “return[ed] to reengage,” and the surveillance footage shows him being handed a gun by a different man, which he then shoots into the air.

According to the warrant, Sanders continued firing his “automatic pistol gunfire” when the woman sought cover behind Williams’ car, striking Williams numerous times.

Sanders entered a Mercedes-Benz and allegedly “appeared to realize that he shot the innocent victim,” according to the police.

Not long later, cops and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel arrived. Williams, of Opa-locka, was shot numerous times, at least once in the chest, and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

According to the warrant, Sanders allegedly called Williams’ father and threatened to “turn himself in” “once he kills” the other woman while detectives were reviewing the scene.

Sanders, who goes by the street name “Little Weezy,” was found guilty in Miami-Dade County of trying to kill someone and attempt to rob someone with an armed weapon. Records from the Florida Department of Corrections show that Sanders spent over seven years behind bars.

After being found guilty in Miami-Dade of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon carrying a concealed weapon, he had already served time in state custody.

Sanders was officially arrested at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday. He was charged with second-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and possessing a short-barreled shotgun, rifle, or machine gun.

The authorities did not disclose how Sanders was captured. He remained incarcerated without bond on Thursday.
