A man from Miami got arrested recently for causing fear to a woman and her kids in their apartment. This happened around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday at an apartment building on South Treasure Drive.
The suspect, named Youssef Elzein, is now facing more than a dozen criminal charges.
The woman, with her 6 and 14-year-old children, was returning home when Elzein suddenly opened her apartment door.
The report says Elzein, who used to be in a relationship with the woman, entered without permission through an unlocked sliding glass door.
The woman, scared, went into the building’s elevator with her kids, but before the doors could close, Elzein forced them back into the apartment and blocked the door, not letting them leave.
The woman grabbed a gun while her 14-year-old son, worried about his mother, took a knife and confronted Elzein, telling him to go away. Elzein put the boy in a headlock and took the knife.
Things got more intense, and the woman pointed the gun at Elzein, telling him to let her son go and saying that the police were on their way.
When the police arrived, Elzein gave conflicting stories.
At first, he pretended not to know why they were there. Later, he changed his story, saying the woman had given him a key and he was just waiting for her.
As the officers arrested Elzein, he tried to run towards the woman, and he ended up kicking and headbutting a police officer, Ethan Cherasia, and hitting two other officers from Miami Beach multiple times.
Elzein even tried to bribe Officer Cherasia, offering everything on his wrist in exchange for his release, saying, “Take care of me and I’ll take care of you; you don’t have to arrest me.”
Despite his attempts, Elzein was arrested on a total of 14 charges, including burglary, bribery, holding a child under 13 against their will, child abuse, and resisting arrest with violence.
