MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A man from Miami was given a jail term of thirty months as a result of a search of his vehicle by the Prattville Police Department, which showed the presence of dozens of stolen checks, as stated by the information provided by the Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Alabama. The search was carried out as a consequence of the discovery of the stolen checks by the Prattville Police Department.
In the past, Alberto Carlos Varona, who is now 30 years old, was accused of possessing stolen mail, and he entered a guilty plea to the accusation.
According to the terms of the plea deal that Varona entered into, law enforcement agents in Prattville received a complaint in February of 2021 about an attempt to cash stolen checks. This information was included in the agreement.
On February 26, 2021, law enforcement officials stopped a car that they believed to be acting suspiciously. Following a search of Varona’s vehicle, the authorities reported discovering 37 checks that had been fraudulently obtained.
After some time had elapsed, a federal grand jury decided to prosecute Varona with four counts of possession of stolen mail matter. These charges were brought against him. On September 29, 2021, Varona pleaded guilty to the charges against her.
Investigations into this matter were carried out by the Prattville Police Department, the United States Secret Service, and the United States Postal Inspection Service, along with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service.
