A juvenile was taken into custody by the Miami-Dade Police Department on the suspicion that he attempted to arrange illegal street races in the city of Miami while also urging those participating to injure any cops if they intervened in the races.
The arrest of Bryam Castillo-Talavera, 18, on April 28 resulted in a number of charges being filed against him, including aiding drag racing and making a written threat to commit bodily damage, according to officials with the Miami-Dade Police Department.
Castillo-Talavera allegedly posted a message in a social media chat channel that was set aside just for the organization of the races, as stated in a police complaint.
Additionally, he instructed those who were present in the chat room to use fireworks as a weapon against any officer who confronted them.
Castillo-Talavera was taken into custody thanks to the efforts of the Homeland Security Bureau of the MDPD as well as police from many other departments. After posting a bond, he was freed.
This arrest is part of a larger effort to combat coordinated street takeovers in South Florida, which is now underway.
According to the authorities, the gatherings are planned online, and when the participants arrive, they block lanes of traffic and engage in activities like racing, drifting, or doing donuts and other stunts.
