An old woman has gone missing, and family members and the police are looking for her. In Dania Beach, worried family members distributed flyers for missing persons on Tuesday following the Sunday night report of 81-year-old Carol Tormey, who has dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
“Two years ago she was diagnosed with dementia, so we have taken her car away from her,” John Tormey, Carol’s son stated. “Sunday, my dad took a nap and he woke up and the car was gone and she was gone.”
The 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Carol was thought to be driving, along with her image, were promptly included in a Silver Alert sent out by Fort Lauderdale police.
“She gets tired quickly, she gets disoriented and I’m just hopeful whoever sees her will call us,” Niria Tormey, Carol’s daughter-in-law stated.
Carol is thought to have walked away from her residence in the 1500 block of South Ocean Lane in Fort Lauderdale.
Although she turned around and headed back south, where the vehicle was last seen around Sheridan Street and A1A, license plate scanners reveal she proceeded north on US-1 to Deerfield Beach. Despite this, her relatives were still able to locate her.
“We have air tags with her,” John Tormey stated. “There is one in her purse, one in her keys and one in the truck, and those were spotted going west on Miramar (Parkway).”

There, the Apple air tags were lost to traceability.
“All three were destroyed at the same time, or the signal was lost at 12:44 a.m.,” John Tormey stated.
Carol’s family is getting more and more concerned with every minute that goes by, hoping that she will be located and returned home safely.
“I think that there is good people out there in this world and I think that she is with one of them, but she just can’t express to them what her name is,” John Tormey stated.
It is advised that anyone who believes they have seen Carol or her car notify the police.
