For a number of days, including during a well-known street festival, the body of a worker who was hired to work on the roof of a Burbank business was said to have been on top of the structure.
The unnamed employee was discovered Saturday afternoon on the roof of a store on the 3500 block of Magnolia Avenue, across the street from a number of busy establishments, according to the Burbank Police Department.
The individual was declared deceased at the spot after receiving first assistance from the police.
“Officers learned the decedent had been hired to do some work on the roof and had passed away while doing the work,” a police spokesperson stated.
The man’s body wasn’t found until Saturday, two days after he was last seen, despite police confirming that he was last seen on Thursday and his family filing a missing persons report the next day.
The devastating revelation was made the day after Burbank’s yearly street festival, Holiday in the Park, which attracts thousands of people to the Magnolia Park area.
Ten blocks of Magnolia Avenue are closed for the annual holiday festival, which gives guests the chance to browse vendor booths, take in live music, food trucks, a Ferris wheel, a vehicle display, and opportunities to network with local groups.
The blocks of Magnolia Avenue that were closed off for the holiday festivities included the establishment where the man’s body was found.
According to authorities, there were no indications of trauma or foul play, and the man’s death is thought to have been natural.
