Money Dispute Turns Violent: Miami-Dade Man Accused of Knife Attack on Girlfriend

A southwest Miami-Dade man may spend a significant amount of time behind bars after, according to the police, he used a knife to attack his girlfriend last weekend after they got into a financial argument.

According to the victim’s account, just after 1 p.m. on Saturday, her boyfriend, Charles Davis, 31, of Miami-Dade police, entered the bedroom while she was in bed and demanded $3,000, sparking an altercation.

According to his arrest report, Davis dragged the victim from the bed to the floor in a fit of rage and then struck her on the back of the head many times.

Davis allegedly used a kitchen knife to further intensify the violence and caused a small puncture wound on the victim’s left side of the abdomen, according to the police.

Then, according to the authorities, he put her in a headlock, put the knife to her neck, and demanded the cash. According to the complaint, the victim was able to leave the house and call the police.

When law enforcement arrived, Davis “violently” resisted arrest, forcing responding police to use a Taser, according to the authorities.

Detectives said that the victim verified Davis’ identification with a single photo.

After the incident, Davis was receiving treatment at Homestead Baptist Hospital. When detectives went to speak with him later, hospital staff told them that Davis needed to be sedated because he was agitated and violent, which made the interview “impossible,” the report said.

According to Davis’ arrest report, after being discharged from the hospital, he was sent to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Investigators said that Davis and the victim have been together for eight years and have two children.

According to jail records, he is charged with one count of violence, attempted armed robbery with a deadly weapon, and attempted murder.

Davis was being held at TGK without bond as of Tuesday. The reason behind Davis’ purported demand for $3,000 from the victim was not revealed by the police in their investigation.
