PORT ST. JOHN, Fla. — According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop was initiated due to an expired tag, resulting in the arrest of a mother and daughter.
Michell Cannon and her daughter Jazmine Cannon were pulled over by Deputy David Guzman on Saturday near U.S. 1 and Palm St. in Port St. John.
During the traffic stop, Deputy Guzman noticed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Upon conducting a search, he discovered a lock box containing weighing scales and a crystal-like substance near the driver’s seat.
After conducting a field test, it was determined that the substance found, weighing approximately 17.6 grams, was methamphetamine.
Additionally, used syringes were found, one of which contained a yellow liquid that tested positive for Fentanyl, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
Further search revealed that Jazmine had a little less than a gram of meth and a used syringe on her person.
As a result, Michell Cannon was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Fentanyl, Driving While License Suspended With Knowledge, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $34,000.
Jazmine Cannon was also arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Methamphetamine. Her bail was set at $2,500.
