HIALEAH — An officer from the Hialeah Police Department was hurt while attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle rider early on Sunday morning in the area that is bounded by East 4th Avenue and 49th Street. The occurrence of the event took place.
According to the official, the rider of the motorcycle rushed up in the direction of the police officer and collided with him as the officer got closer to the motorcycle.
After that, the man hurriedly retreated into a nearby residential zone, where he ditched the motorcycle and made his escape. According to the police report, an immediate perimeter was established, and once the suspect was located and identified as Roberto Ortiz, 36, from Miami, he was taken into custody and placed in a holding facility.
According to the claims made by the Hialeah police department, the paperwork proves that the motorcycle was taken from within the city limits of Miami and that it was reported stolen.
The injured officer was reportedly transported to Jackson Ryder Trauma, where he underwent surgery to fix the fractures and torn ligaments in his knee. This information comes from the police department. While on the job, the cop sustained an injury.
Ortiz has been sent to TGK and is currently facing multiple accusations, including one for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer as well as theft of the motorcycle.
