Arrest warrants state that a 24-year-old man is charged with assault following two different instances in which he allegedly invaded someone’s home, hit them in the face, and swung a knife and a baseball bat at another individual.
Davon Lamontaye Cokley, a resident of Florence, was charged with third-degree assault and battery, second-degree burglary, trespassing, and high and severe battery. On Wednesday, he was scheduled to appear at the Florence County Detention Center.
According to an arrest warrant, on July 9, Cokley allegedly broke into a mentally ill man’s apartment and hit him in the face. A “non-biased” witness who supported the account was among the several witnesses to the punch. The strike had left the sufferer with blood on his teeth and lips.
An arrest warrant then states that Florence police responded to the 1500 block of S. Irby Street on Monday. The victim informed them upon their arrival that they had been lodged in the same camp as Cokley at the time of Cokley’s request to depart.

The victim discovered that Cokley had taken his knife as he began to walk away.
According to the warrant, Cokley allegedly swung it at the man when he was questioned about it before heading out of the camp. The victim realized he had left his baseball bat behind after Cokley departed and gave it back to him.
After they argued, according to the warrant, Cokley swung the bat at the victim, striking him in the right arm, back, and shoulder. The victim’s injuries were treated medically.
