A man in Jacksonville is currently facing a murder charge after a man’s body was discovered in a body of water in Brantley County back in November, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).
Timothy Peeples, aged 45, is not only accused of murder but also faces several other charges, including abuse of a dead human body, false imprisonment of an adult (two counts), false imprisonment of a child under 13 years of age, tampering with evidence, and possession of a firearm or concealed weapon by a convicted felon.
The JSO was initially called on November 10 to investigate a missing person’s case with potential signs of foul play in the 4600 block of Lenoir Avenue.
Later that same day, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation contacted the authorities in Jacksonville to report the discovery of a man’s body in Brantley County. ‘
The Brantley County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook at the time, stating that the body was found on November 9, wrapped in plastic at the bridge on White Ford Road.
The JSO confirmed the victim’s identity as a 47-year-old Black male based on evidence and physical description.
Following their investigation, the JSO’s Homicide Unit identified Timothy Peeples as a suspect in the case.
A subsequent arrest warrant was issued for Peeples on the new charges, and he has been in custody at the Duval County Jail since February 9 on a separate charge of possession of a firearm or concealed weapon by a convicted felon, as indicated by the JSO’s online Inmate Information Search. Peeples’ next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, June 28 at 9 a.m.
