Six persons were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle incident on Friday morning, according to authorities, who confirmed the investigation of the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Three vehicles were involved in a crash that was reported at approximately 7:30 a.m. in the North Lauderdale area at Southwest 81st Avenue and Southwest Seventh Court, according to BSO spokesperson Miranda Grossman.
“A lot of people saw the accident. It’s a super busy street,” one witness stated.
According to Grossman, officers from the BSO and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue attended the site.
“When I got out of the vehicle – I mean, I didn’t lose consciousness. I was able to climb out of the passenger door on my own,” one of the drivers, Jason Shopovick stated.
One SUV was hit by a speeding automobile, according to witnesses, and the SUV lost control, crashing head-on into a white refrigeration company truck.
“The first thing I realized was there was a bunch of kids, and I guess the car that had 90ed in front of me and lost control — they were carrying like three or four kids and laying them on the grass, and it looked like injuries,” Shopovick stated.
According to Grossman, six patients were taken by ambulance to nearby hospitals.
“At least two of them got ejected from the car, so I don’t think they had car seats or seat belts,” Shopovick stated. “They all seemed under 10 … they didn’t seem alert and my prayers go out to them.”

Grossman attested to the fact that the hospitalized victims’ wounds were thought to be non-life-threatening. She claimed that following the collision, Southwest 81st Avenue’s north and southbound lanes near Southwest Seventh Court were closed, but they have now reopened.
According to Grossman, the driver of the Toyota involved in the collision received a penalty.
