In Northern Colorado, a team of rescuers had to work together to remove a kitten that had become stuck in a dumpster late last week.

It took place in the Fort Collins region on Friday.

Someone called the Poudre Fire Authority to report a terrifying scene in which a cat was inside a trash and, while attempting to escape, managed to get its head stuck in a tiny aperture at the base.

The workers assessed the situation and concluded that big equipment would be the only means of saving the courageous animal, whose small head remained stuck.

The cat was given a sedative to help it calm during the rescue by Dr. Amanda Cavanagh, an emergency veterinarian from Colorado State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

In a social media post on Monday, PFA stated, “The strong material of the dumpster and tight fit required extremely precise use of powerful tools often used in vehicle extrications.”

The cat is currently receiving care at NOCO Humane in Loveland after the successful rescue.

PFA stated that it hopes the kitten will be adopted by a “lucky family” in the future.
