A 23-year-old mother was subjected to a violent attack involving a box cutter and physical assault by two other women after an altercation between their children in a park in the Bronx, as police said.

The shocking incident took place at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday at Tremont Park, located on 175th Street and Arthur Avenue. The victim’s 10-year-old son had engaged in a fight with another child, which led the other child’s family and friends to approach the mother and confront her about the situation.

The accused, identified as Desire Black, 22, and Felicity Reid, 23, started attacking the mother, during which they used a box cutter to stab her and kept punching and kicking her. Subsequently, the victim was immediately taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where her condition was balanced and declared stable.

As a result of the incident, Desire Black faced charges of gang assault, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and harassment. In contrast, Felicity Reid was charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, and unlawful possession of an ammunition-feeding device in conformity with the New York Post.

Apart from this, another unfortunate event unfolded a few hours earlier, wherein a 39-year-old man was shot in the left leg at the intersection of Washington Avenue and East 167th Street. Like the previous victim, he was also transported to St. Barnabas Hospital and was stated to be in stable condition.

Around 4 a.m., a 32-year-old man suffered a stab wound in the back at 3392 East Tremont Avenue. He, too, was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, and fortunately, his condition was stable. Law enforcement officials arrested a man and a woman in connection with this incident, and pending investigations, charges will be filed accordingly.

Distressingly, these instances represent only a few examples of the recent growth in violent crimes within the Bronx. As a result, both the residents and law enforcement officials are highly concerned about the increasing violence in the area.
