The most recent unprovoked attack on women in New York City came last Tuesday when a lunatic struck a woman at random with a hockey stick on a street in Manhattan.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., the 26-year-old victim was strolling along East 6th Street in the East Village between First Avenue and Avenue A when the man suddenly came up and struck her in the leg with the hockey stick, according to the police.
Paramedics attended to the woman on the spot, according to police. Her assailant fled and is still at large.
The NYPD released a description of him, saying that he was last seen wearing a black jacket, a light-colored hoodie, light-colored slacks, and multicolored sneakers.
The attack occurs after a number of women claimed that last month, while out and about in New York City, they were randomly hit in the face by male strangers.

The majority of the random, one-punch attacks happened in Manhattan and were directed at twentysomething women.
In videos uploaded to TikTok and Instagram, a number of women described the horrific attacks and displayed the bumps or bruises on their faces; this prompted further victims to come forward and describe similar experiences they had in New York City.
Despite the parallels between the two assaults, authorities believe that different people are behind each one, and at least two men have been taken into custody for two distinct crimes.

“I think he was really kind of intentional with his actions,” Stephanie Weng, 33, described the man who struck her in the face on March 20 near Union Square. “And it just was just like, super traumatizing and like very, very scary when it did happen. It’s really kind of hard for me to talk about.”
