According to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, the guy who was charged with shooting a father in East Oakland in 2020 was found guilty.
Miles Armstead, a neighbor, was shot and killed by 47-year-old Jamal Thomas on May 1, 2020. The DA claimed that Thomas had been verbally abusing Armstead and his family for several months.
In addition, Thomas pelted Armstead’s house with bricks and stones through the windows.
The district attorney said that Armstead’s decision to sell the house was motivated by the harassment he was receiving. He was working landscaping to get the house ready for sale on the day of the shoot.
According to the District Attorney, Armstead was fleeing from Thomas when he was shot and killed, as supported by the facts and testimony.
Armstead was expecting his fourth kid at the time of his death, bringing his total to four.
