In the early hours of Saturday, tragedy struck as a fatal shooting claimed the life of a Dothan resident. The distressing incident transpired at approximately 3 a.m. within the 1100 block of Persimmon Street in Dothan.
Upon receiving the distress call, first responders swiftly arrived at the scene.
There, they discovered the lifeless body of Bernard Mandrell McClendon, a 44-year-old Dothan native, lying in the front yard of a residence.
He had succumbed to a gunshot wound in his upper torso.
Investigators believe that an altercation occurred in close proximity to this location, after which McClendon made his way to the yard, tragically succumbing to his injuries.
As part of the investigative process, McClendon’s body will be sent to the medical examiner at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery.
