Following what officials described as a “killing spree,” the man shot and killed three ladies in different incidents in Florida: his mother, his cousin, and the new partner of his ex-girlfriend. The man is now deceased.

Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells stated at a press conference that the suspect, 28-year-old Javontee Brice, first went to a residence in Palmetto where his sister and ex-girlfriend were residing before the events of Monday night.

“He looked at the ex-girlfriend and said, ‘I have to kill you.’ Somehow the sister was able to talk him down and talk him out of him shooting this ex-girlfriend,” Wells stated. “She later told investigators that he was acting very strange.”

The sheriff claimed that Wells next drove to a Motel 6 in Bradenton, where his mother, his two younger sisters, and the mother’s boyfriend were lodging.

About 9:15 p.m., “he walked into that hotel room, looked at the mother and said, ‘I’m sorry,'” Wells stated.

“She asked, ‘What did you do?’ And he shoots her three times in front of the boyfriend and these two innocent young juveniles,” Wells stated.

After that, according to the sheriff, Brice went to a Bradenton residence where her new partner and another ex-girlfriend resided. According to Wells, Brice shot and murdered the new partner at approximately 10:04 p.m.

The sheriff’s office claimed to have sent out a statewide “Be On the Lookout” alert for Brice’s vehicle, which was eventually located in Hamilton County, close to the Georgia state line.

According to Wells, authorities have discovered that Brice “possibly has another ex-girlfriend” in Georgia and may have been heading there with the intention of killing her.

According to Wells, Brice got out of the car and began shooting at the police when they stopped him over in Hamilton County at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Brice was shot and killed by the responding officers, according to Wells. The sheriff stated that a woman who was with Brice when he was pulled over is being questioned.

“We don’t know her relation to him at this point, but she was in the car when the shootout took place,” Wells stated.

According to Wells, Brice’s family is “devastated” by the deaths of his mother and cousin, but detectives plan to speak with the family members to find out what Brice “may have been going through the last few days.”

“He seemed to have an agenda; he knew exactly who he wanted to kill and he did not have a hard time locating them,” Wells stated.

“We don’t know what set this man off. We don’t know why he chose to kill his loved ones,” the sheriff continued. “We may never know, but we’re going to continue to investigate.”
