LAUDERHILL, FLA. – A wrong-way driver caused a rollover crash in Lauderhill that killed one person and sent a mother and her two children to the hospital.
Sunday around 5:45 p.m., police and fire rescue from Lauderhill went to the scene of a crash that happened on Mother’s Day near Northwest 36th Avenue and West Broward Boulevard.
Detectives say that a guy driving a GMC SUV was going north on the southbound lanes of Northwest 36th Avenue and crossing Broward Boulevard when he hit a black Mustang convertible.
When the SUV hit, it flipped over. Police said that the GMC passenger got out of the car.
The passenger was taken to Broward Health Medical Center by paramedics, but he died there from his injuries.
Investigators said that a mother and her two children, ages 1 and 4, were in the Mustang.
All three of them were taken to BHMC by paramedics. The mother’s condition is described as “serious,” but the kids are expected to be fine.
The driver of the GMC also had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
As of Sunday night, the names of the people involved in the crash have not been shared by the police.
