TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In April, there was a shooting in the 3500 block of Roberts Avenue that left one person badly hurt. Two teens were arrested in connection with the shooting.
TPD says that officers were called to the Grove Tallahassee Mobile Home Park on April 13 just before 10 p.m.
According to court papers, witnesses say that the victim, De’vante Gibson, was in a car when 14-year-old Za’ron Starks and a 16-year-old approached him with an AR-style gun.
Starks and the other teen are said to have shot at the car several times, killing Gibson and leaving him with serious wounds.
The TPD said that the teens were arrested on April 19 and charged with trying to kill someone in the first degree.
According to court records, Starks is being charged with trying to kill someone in the first degree, shooting at, inside, or into an occupied car, and having a gun when he or she was under 18.
The State Attorney’s Office told Eyewitness News that Stark was charged as an adult.
WCTV usually doesn’t report on the names of children in cases, but since Stark was charged as an adult and the charges were serious, we included his name.
The TPD suggested that the 16-year-old face similar charges, but the State Attorney’s Office told Eyewitness News that no charges have been made and that his case is still being looked into.
