Approximately twenty individuals got into a brawl at the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday afternoon, leaving five men in prison, one man with a suspected fractured ankle, and one man with an apparent knife wound.

The fight happened at 2:21 p.m. close to Tower 14 north of the Pier.

Officers discovered a man with a stab wound when they arrived, however the injury didn’t seem to be life-threatening. Police believe that during the altercation, another man may have broken his ankle. For medical attention, both individuals were taken to nearby hospitals.

Witnesses said that several of the guys involved in the fight looked like street sellers, however it’s unclear what ignited the fight. It hasn’t been verified by police.

“So I make my way down that way and it turns out it was like a brawl, like 12-plus people,” witness Jose Gutierrez stated. “They were just going ham with poles and flags and umbrellas – whatever they could get their hands on. I saw a guy with a belt in his hand.”
