Police Issue Alert for Man After Failed Kidnapping of 15-Year-Old Girl

A man attempted to abduct a teenage girl who was waiting for a bus at a stop on the Northwest Side of Chicago, prompting the police to issue a community notice.

The event took place in the 3600 block of North Central Avenue in Portage Park on Thursday, April 18, at approximately 8:19 a.m.

According to authorities, a 15-year-old girl was waiting at a bus stop when an unidentified guy ordered that she get into his car and threatened to take her by force.

After seeing the exchange, a woman advised the man to stop interacting with the victim. After claiming to know the girl, he drove on Central Avenue southward.

He was seen by nearby security cameras traveling west on Foster Avenue and then heading south on Central Avenue after passing Addison Avenue.

According to CPD, the perpetrator was characterized as being of a slim build, between 28 and 30 years old, with brown hair and a goatee. He was bilingual in Spanish and English.

He was operating a yellow Corvette with a black convertible top from the mid-1990s.

Chicago police advise parents to train their kids to call 911 if a stranger approaches them and to warn their children about the danger.
