Miami man punched dog, grandmother in Liberty City, police say

MIAMI – The Miami Police Department arrested a guy on Monday for allegedly punching his grandmother and her dog in July.

The Miami Police Department said the incident occurred at the victim’s residence on Northwest 45th Street in the Liberty City district of Miami at around 9:30 a.m. on July 8.

According to the police report, Larry McKinnon was arrested after he allegedly punched his grandmother’s dog in the head when she opened the door to confront him after he banged on her door.

When McKinnon’s grandma tried to pull him away from the dog so he wouldn’t strike it again, he allegedly punched her in the right eye, inflicting a minor cut, according to the police. Then, according to the police, he fled.

McKinnon was arrested for a felony count of violence against a person 65 or older and a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.

As of Tuesday afternoon, according to Miami-Dade prison records, a judge had established probable cause to prosecute McKinnon, and he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $6,000 bail.
