The judge ordered the accused Linn County man to undergo a competency evaluation by the State psychiatrist for the next three weeks, putting the guy’s trial on hold. The man is suspected of killing four people.

At the beginning of the month, Luke Truesdell, 34, of Marion, is charged with the murders of four persons at a house on East Otter Road. Three bodies were discovered by police in an outbuilding.

After being brought to the hospital, a fourth victim passed away.

According to investigators, Truesdell acknowledged using a metal pipe to beat each of them. But according to Truesdell’s lawyer, he might have a mental illness.

A psychiatric evaluation is required of Truesdell by a judge on Wednesday in order to ascertain whether he has a mental illness that keeps him from comprehending and realizing the charges against him.

Though the judge postponed the trial until the competency question was settled, Truesdell was scheduled to go on trial in September. To assess Truesdell’s development, the State psychiatrist has scheduled a hearing for August 16th before the judge.
