Searching for Birth Parents, Georgia Woman Discovers Her Dad Is Already on Her Facebook List

WPBN: Recently, an adopted woman from Georgia went on a quest to track down her birth parents and found that she had been friends with her birth father on Facebook the entire time.

According to a BBC story published on Nov. 30, Tamuna Museridze started to fear she might have been adopted in 2016 after the death of the mother who reared her.

At the time, Tamuna, 40, reportedly found a birth certificate with her name on it — but the date of birth differed from her own. The journalist Tamuna then created a Facebook profile in an attempt to learn more about her heritage.

Eventually, a woman in rural Georgia messaged her to tell her that her aunt had secretly gotten pregnant in September 1984, around the time of Tamuna’s actual birthdate.

After the woman consented to do a DNA test, it was discovered that she and Tamuna were first cousins and that Tamuna’s biological mother was actually the woman’s aunt.

Tamuna’s call to her birth mother, however, did not go well. She began yelling and screaming. She claimed not to have borne a child. Tamuna stated, “I was ready for anything, but her reaction was beyond anything I could imagine.,” adding that she didn’t want anything to do with her.

However, Tamuna’s birth mother gave her the name of her birth father, Gurgen Khorava, after a week or so and a second phone conversation.

“I couldn’t believe these things were happening to me. I couldn’t believe I had found them,” Tamuna remembered.

Tamuna found out that Gurgen had been following her story the entire time and was even a Facebook friend when she tried to find him on the social media platform.

“[He had] been in my friend list for three years,” Tamuna stated. “He didn’t even know my birth mother had been pregnant. It was a huge surprise for him.”

Soon after, the two made plans to meet in Gurgren’s hometown. It was odd since he recognized me as his daughter the instant he laid eyes on me. I experienced a lot of conflicting feelings,” Tamuna remembered.

Soon after, Gurgen presented her to his extended family, which included aunts, uncles, cousins, and half-siblings. “I look the most like my father out of all his children,” Tamuna remarked.

Eventually, Tamuna learned more about the details of her own adoption and had further conversations with her birth mother.

She had discovered that her mother concealed her pregnancy and eventually went to a nearby city to give birth to the child covertly because she was afraid of the embarrassment of having an unwed child.
