Many Californians are looking forward to receiving their CalFresh checks as a new month approaches. Efficient management of grocery purchases is made possible for recipients by attending to the timing and distribution of these benefits.
Everything you need to know about the September 2024 CalFresh payment schedule, how to use these benefits, and how to apply if you’re new to the program will be covered in this article.
Payment
For qualified low-income individuals and families, California’s counterpart of the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) offers monthly benefits through CalFresh. An Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which functions similarly to a debit card in supermarkets, farmers’ markets, and grocery stores that accept CalFresh, is used to distribute these payments.
The date when benefits are placed onto an EBT card is determined by the individual case number assigned to each CalFresh recipient. The final digit of the case number determines the payment dates for September 2024:
Case Number (Last Digit) | Payment Date |
1 | September 1, 2024 |
2 | September 2, 2024 |
3 | September 3, 2024 |
4 | September 4, 2024 |
5 | September 5, 2024 |
6 | September 6, 2024 |
7 | September 7, 2024 |
8 | September 8, 2024 |
9 | September 9, 2024 |
0 | September 10, 2024 |
Benefits are available on the first of the month if your case number ends in “1,” and so on. The majority of September payments have already been made, although benefits for people whose case numbers finish in 0 or 9 will be paid on September 9 and 10.
Maximum Amounts Due
The size and income of a household determine how much CalFresh assistance they are eligible for. The following are the maximum monthly CalFresh payment amounts for September 2024:
Household Size | Maximum Benefit |
1 person | $291 |
2 people | $535 |
3 people | $766 |
4 people | $1,155 |
5 people | $1,386 |
6 people | $1,532 |
7 people | $1,751 |
These monthly maximums make sure that even larger households have the funding to buy wholesome food every month. Remember that each household’s real share may differ depending on their income and other circumstances.
