JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After her daughter was killed almost three years ago, a mother in Jacksonville still wants justice.
Brittany Matthews, a popular hairdresser, was shot several times at a Shell gas station on Edgewood Avenue in August 2020.
Alfreda Matthews, the 31-year-old’s mother, said there have been no new clues in the case, but the family still wants justice.
“Grief over the death of a child will never go away. Matthews said, “You just have to take it day by day.”
Investigators said that a guy in a silver Nissan Rouge pulled up next to Matthew’s car, got out, and fired several shots into it. Then he left in his car.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office found the gunman’s car and put out photos of a man and a woman who were being looked into as possible suspects.
Still, nobody has been caught.
When Matthew’s mother got a phone call telling her that her daughter had been shot, she said she couldn’t believe it.
“It wasn’t for real. That it was just not true. Matthews said, “It still doesn’t seem real. “My hope is that people will finally speak up and not be afraid to say what happened to my child.
Matthews said that her daughter wanted to do hair for famous people.
“I’m never going up. So that I’ll never have to give up anything. “I can’t as long as I’m still alive,” Matthews said.
