RUSKIN, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office wants the public’s help to find a person of interest in the murder of a person whose burned body was found in Ruskin on Saturday morning.
According to the sheriff’s office, firemen were called to put out the flames of what was thought to be a dummy on fire in an open field behind a residential area near the corner of Will Scarlett Avenue and 12 Street Southeast in Ruskin.
When workers got there, they found a person that was on fire and had been hurt in the upper body. Because the burns were so bad, the person could not be recognized right away.
“Our detectives are hard at work looking into every clue and piece of proof, including this video. Sheriff Chad Chronister said, “I am so proud of how hard they are working to solve this horrible crime.” “But we can’t do this by ourselves. We want to help the victim and their family get justice, but we need help from the people.”
The sheriff’s office said that the guy circled in the video is a “person of interest” with whom police would like to talk.
Due to how the body was found, police are still trying to figure out who it belonged to.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office wants anyone who knows who the person of interest is to call them at 813-247-8200.
