WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – In a recent report, The individual who investigators believe is responsible for a deadly gunshot that led to a standoff in West Palm Beach has been taken into custody by the police.
On April 28, shortly before 7 a.m., officers from the West Palm Beach Police Department were sent to a house on 28th Street and Broadway in response to allegations of a gunshot taking place there.
Officers discovered the victim, identified as 33-year-old Rashawn Clem, lying in the center of the road, bleeding from his stomach and chest, according to the arrest report.
The severity of Clem’s injuries prevented the officers from questioning him, and he was unable to answer their inquiries. The victim succumbed to his wounds and passed away in the end.
A lady who was there at the site informed the police that she was in the area when the incident occurred. She gave the name “Mook” to the shooter, who was ultimately determined to be Arthur Holmes, 49 years old.
The investigation revealed that Holmes and Clem were familiar with one another.
During an interview with the police, the lady said that she and Clem got into a fight in the parking lot over a duffel bag in which the woman kept her clothing and other personal stuff.
The woman told the detectives that the disagreement was over the bag. As the debate continued, the woman claimed that Holmes emerged from his apartment, which was situated a few doors down from where they were currently standing.
According to the police report, the lady greeted Holmes while she was in the middle of an argument with Clem. It was at that point when Clem started yelling obscenities at Holmes.
After pulling a gun from his waistband, Holmes drew his weapon and aimed it toward Clem’s chest, which caused the confrontation to get more heated. After that, he let go of the rifle.
According to the police, a second witness was able to validate the claims made by the lady after seeing the gunshot from the window of his flat.
After the incident, Holmes allegedly went straight back to his flat and hid there until police arrived.
Law enforcement officials said that they had encircled Holmes’ flat, and they ordered the other occupants of the building to evacuate. According to the police, Holmes was not inside the house when they arrived; nevertheless, he was discovered on Tuesday and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail.
Both first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon are the charges that have been brought against Holmes.
