SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — According to Sanford police, a woman named Iyonn’a Spates, 26 years old, is facing charges for allegedly throwing boiling water onto a man’s face on Friday.
The incident occurred while another woman in the house was checking on her while she appeared to be cooking.
The witness told the police that she saw a pot of boiling water and assumed Spates was preparing a meal. However, when she left the room, she heard her boyfriend screaming from the bedroom. The man reported that he woke up to Spates throwing boiling water on his face.
Spates apparently told the woman that the man had to leave, leading to a physical altercation between the two women, as per the police report.
During questioning by the police, Spates stated that she felt uncomfortable with the man being in the house and claimed that she had asked him to leave on multiple occasions in the past.
The other woman involved in the altercation with Spates received treatment for her injuries, according to the arrest report.
Spates has been taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated battery causing bodily harm and domestic violence battery.
