A 23-year-old man was shot and killed by a convicted felon, Darius Malik Johnson, in Miami when he found Johnson in bed with his girlfriend.
The incident occurred on March 11 at around 1:45 a.m. The victim had come to his girlfriend’s apartment to pick up his things, while his mother waited in the car.
Johnson, who had already fled the scene, was apprehended by police on April 8 during a traffic stop. Johnson claimed that he shot the victim in self-defense after the victim rushed into the bedroom and reached for his waistband.
However, Johnson was charged with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon, and he is being held without bond.
Johnson was released from prison on August 10, 2022, after serving time for two robberies in Miami-Dade County in 2016. Anyone with information about the case is urged to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers.
