There are allegations against an Adams Run man related to a gunshot that took place in the mall’s food court section.

According to the Charleston Police Department, Nathan Mungin, 19, is accused of three counts of high and aggravated assault and battery as well as possessing a pistol during the commission of a violent felony.

According to Sgt. Chris Stinson, there was a disturbance reported at the Citadel Mall at 4 p.m. on Friday, prompting the contact of police, who responded.

A single shot was fired during a protracted altercation involving several individuals in the food court, according to investigators.

A teenager was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening minor injuries, according to Stinson. Several people fled the scene as soon as police arrived.

After being recognized as the culprit, Mungin was placed under arrest. Investigators discovered that multiple people were involved in an ongoing altercation that led to the shooting.

Chito Walker, the chief of Charleston police, expressed gratitude that no one was gravely injured in the shooting.

“[I] am grateful for our officers’ quick response in this situation. However, we must recognize the terrifying reality that was created by these senseless and inexcusable actions. Gun violence is never the answer to any dispute and is not and will never be acceptable,” Walker stated in a news release.
