Shooting Incident at Taylor Pointe Apartments Two Teens Hospitalized

GIFFORD, Fla. — Detectives are currently investigating a double shooting in Gifford, which resulted in injuries to two teenagers and led to a hospital being placed on lockdown.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) stated that the shooting took place around the rear area of Taylor Pointe Apartments, near 38th Circle, at 6:28 p.m. on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the crime scene in the parking lot towards the back of the apartment complex. Gunfire had struck and damaged at least one parked vehicle.

Sheriff Eric Flowers provided information about the incident in a video recorded at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, there were four individuals inside the car at the time of the shooting, but only two of them were injured. The 17-year-old and 18-year-old victims managed to drive themselves to the emergency room at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, despite having multiple occupants in the vehicle.

Due to the severity of their injuries, one of the victims was subsequently transported to a Trauma Center.

At present, no suspects have been apprehended, and investigators have limited information regarding the shooter(s). The apartment complex was temporarily sealed off to the public during the investigation but has since been reopened.
