Monday night, shooting broke out on a busy street in the North Hollywood Arts District that is dotted with eateries and bars, injuring a lady.
Around eight o’clock in the evening, the horrific incident happened on Magnolia Avenue between Lankershim Boulevard and Vineland Avenue, in front of The Fat Dog Bar and Restaurant, which had a full patio of patrons enjoying their meal.
A flurry of gunfire, with one shot followed by at least a dozen others, can be heard on the security film of the event. On the sidewalk, a pair can be seen rushing for safety, holding to one another, and ducking.
The unidentified female victim took a bullet to the leg. It’s unknown if she visited The Fat Dog as a customer.
After arriving at the scene, members of the Los Angeles police and fire departments discovered the woman, who was reportedly conscious and breathing. Paramedics arrived and took her to a neighboring hospital.
Her status was not immediately known.
Working a few doors over at DMC Real Estate, David Chalem estimated that roughly eighteen rounds were fired on Magnolia Avenue. It wasn’t in the early hours of the day. It was 8:00 p.m.
Chalem informed Rachel Menitoff that there has been a rise in criminal activity on this formerly safe strip with pubs, restaurants, theaters, and vintage stores within the past two years.
“We’ve been here so long, and we always felt at least practically safe,” Chalem stated. “But after something like that, we had a long discussion today about potentially leaving the spot.”
While working at the Cheba Hut across the street, Aimee Conn recorded some of the terrifying events.
It was chaos. She claimed that as everyone began to flee in separate directions, we were unsure if there had been a drive-by or a mass shooting. Even though I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 20 years, I’ve never encountered anything like that in this neighborhood.
Conn claimed that she instantly thought of her buddy, actor Johnny Wactor, who was shot and died on May 25 in downtown Los Angeles during a shift as a bartender, when she observed the active crime scene.

The likelihood that the shooting was the result of two gunmen who fled the area on foot and may have gotten into a white BMW SUV is being investigated by the police.
The North Hollywood Division of the Los Angeles Police Department is asking anyone with knowledge regarding the shooting to get in touch.
