Shooting Incident Involving Juvenile Unfolds on Jacksonville's Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Violent Crime Unit of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting incident involving a juvenile on the Westside.

The shooting took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. near Seaboard Avenue, within an apartment complex.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), the juvenile was a passenger in a vehicle, accompanied by two other individuals.

The purpose of their meeting was to purchase a firearm from three unidentified men. However, during the transaction, gunshots were exchanged, resulting in the juvenile being injured in the lower leg.

As they were leaving the scene, the driver of the vehicle collided with five parked vehicles within the apartment complex.

Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop on Seaboard Avenue, close to Timuquana Road.

While the two other occupants fled on foot, a passerby in the area transported the injured juvenile to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

At this time, the JSO has not disclosed the identities of the three males involved in the attempted gun purchase.
