The second phase of the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) will start next month, according to a statement released by the South Carolina Department of Social Services.
Households that lived in qualifying areas during Hurricane Helene and experienced “unreimbursed disaster losses” may be eligible for DSNAP benefits, the department said.
Abbeville, Aiken, Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Cherokee, Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Hampton, Jasper, Kershaw, Laurens, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg, Pickens, Richland, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union, and York are among the counties that are included.
Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Cherokee, Hampton, Laurens, McCormick, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union, and York county residents can begin pre-registering for DSNAP online at benefitsportal.dss.sc.gov on December 1st.
They can also visit the DSNAP site in their county of residence between December 2 and 6th to complete an eligibility interview.
Residents of the following counties can pre-register for DSNAP on December 8: Abbeville, Aiken, Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Jasper, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg, Pickens, and Richland. They can also visit the DSNAP site in their county of residence between December 9 and 13 to complete an eligibility interview.

DSNAP is not available to SNAP users who are currently enrolled.
