An automobile that struck and killed a lady in South Los Angeles is being sought after by police. On October 7, at approximately 8:50 p.m., a fatal collision happened on Imperial Highway, just west of Parmelee Avenue.

The Los Angeles Police Department said that the victim was Denise Barkus, 62. As Barkus was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk, a car struck her. The vehicle kept racing away instead of stopping to offer assistance.

Paramedics declared the woman dead on the spot. The suspect, whose car is described as a two-tone silver or white sedan, is being sought by detectives.

Anyone who gives information that results in the driver’s arrest and conviction can be eligible for a prize of up to $50,000.

“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” LAPD stated.
