Four suspects in theft were taken into custody in relation to a number of crimes that occurred in the San Fernando Valley, including burglaries, carjackings, kidnappings, and destructive ATM thefts.
The suspects were named as follows:
Name | Age | Place |
Anthony Cacho | 22 | Los Angeles |
Stephany Gonzalez-Jimenez | 24 | Los Angeles |
Richard Nevarez | 24 | Los Angeles |
Luis Angel Rodriguez-Arroyo | 40 | Santa Clarita |
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the group is accused of committing at least eight ATM burglaries in the Mission region, one in the West Valley region, two robberies, and incidences of kidnapping and carjacking between August 16 and October 16.
Surveillance footage from almost all of the burglaries showed the group breaking in through the front doors, then going inside to an ATM and wrapping a chain around it.
After dragging the ATMs outside using a chain and an SUV tow hook, they loaded the machine into the trunk and drove off, according to the police. After the suspects took the money out of the ATMs, they were later discovered to be abandoned.
After conducting an investigation, detectives located the suspects. The four individuals were arrested after search warrants were served in Sylmar and Canyon Country on October 16.
Cash was among the several items found that were linked to the thefts, according to LAPD. Additionally, three of the vehicles used in the break-ins were seized.
- Cacho was taken into custody on charges of conspiring to commit burglary. One count of possession of an unregistered assault weapon was filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on October 18.
- For carjacking, Rodriguez-Arroyo was taken into custody. The DA’s office filed five counts of business burglary and one count of carjacking on October 18. The bail amount for him is $100,000.
- Gonzalez-Jimenez was taken into custody on charges of burglary conspiracy. The DA’s office filed a single offense of commercial burglary on October 18.
- For robbery, Nevarez was taken into custody. The DA’s office is currently reviewing his case for filing considerations.
“These criminals operated with alarming boldness,” LAPD stated at a Tuesday press conference. “They’re leaving behind thousands of dollars in damage to their victims.”
