ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A thrilling pursuit captured on camera resulted in the apprehension of four men in an area outside St. Petersburg that isn’t officially part of the city.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) stated that on August 5th, deputies responded to a call at 3:15 p.m. following a woman’s report that she had been robbed at gunpoint in her home shortly after withdrawing money from a nearby ATM.
A witness informed deputies that a black Chevy Traverse had fled the scene before they arrived.
Later that evening, around 8:23 p.m., the sheriff’s office reported that deputies spotted the black Chevy Traverse on 54th Avenue North near 49th Street. Deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as 25-year-old Jarmarquel Boone, sped onto 54th Avenue North.
Deputies engaged in the pursuit, which continued onto Park Street. They attempted a precision immobilization technique (PIT) to stop the vehicle, but Boone managed to keep driving. The pursuit was eventually concluded with a successful PIT maneuver just north of 62nd Avenue on Park Street.
Video footage from the sheriff’s office shows deputies chasing the group of men, ultimately apprehending them at a nearby apartment complex.
According to deputies, once the vehicle was halted, Boone, along with 24-year-old Jeremiah Lewis, 23-year-old Javon Threat, and 20-year-old Mikhail Hines, fled on foot heading north. The PCSO K-9 Unit was deployed and succeeded in apprehending all four suspects.
During the investigation, a substantial amount of marijuana and multiple firearms were discovered and seized by the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that Lewis, Threat, Hines, and Boone were all taken into custody and transported to the Pinellas County Jail. Lewis faced charges of two counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Grand Theft (Firearm), Felony Possession of Marijuana, and Resisting Arrest Without Violence.
Threat and Hines were charged with Resisting Arrest Without Violence. Boone faced charges of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Resisting Arrest Without Violence.
