According to officials, a convicted sex offender who had just been released from prison attempted to sexually abuse a college student in South Carolina, but a good samaritan stopped him.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Darrell Scott Brooks, 57, is charged with a plethora of offenses, including kidnapping, grand larceny, and assault with the intent to commit criminal sexual conduct. According to deputies, Brooks approached the Clemson University student for a ride late on Tuesday at an off-campus apartment building, claiming that he was employed there and that his car had “broken down.”
She was allegedly forced to pull into a church parking lot by Brooks as she drove him toward college, where he attacked her with a “folding razor blade knife” and pinned her down.
When a kind person happened to be passing by, they heard the woman calling for assistance. With the assistance of the kind Samarian, the woman managed to get away. The woman’s car was then purportedly stolen by Brooks, who subsequently fled.
When they attempted to perform a traffic stop, Brooks ran away from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who witnessed the crash in the Seneca area, according to the officials.
He was subsequently brought to the Oconee County Detention Facility. Officials from Clemson University are keeping in touch with the student to ensure she has the tools she needs as she heals.

Police did not provide any other information.
“Protecting the integrity of this investigation is paramount in providing justice for this victim,” deputies stated.
Brooks was “just released from a heavy sentencing in the spring,” according to the sheriff’s office. Brooks is on the South Carolina registry as a sexual offender. It demonstrates that in November 2003, he was found guilty of first-degree criminal sexual behavior.
According to the Post & Courier, he sexually assaulted, threatened to kill, and held a woman captive for fifteen hours during the event.
