Following a call on Saturday night regarding an armed guy, three Atlanta police officers were shot and hurt, according to the authorities. During the incident, the suspect passed away.
Following a 911 call in Atlanta’s Capitol View area for “a man armed with a weapon who the caller felt was a threat to the community,” officers were called, according to Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum, who briefed reporters on the incident at approximately 5:15 p.m. local time.
According to Schierbaum, the suspect was carrying a knife and a revolver when the police arrived on the scene.
“During that encounter, there was a struggle, there was gunfire that resulted in three of our officers being injured,” Schierbaum stated. “It also resulted in the death of the individual that was armed with the handgun.”
After being taken, the cops arrived at Grady Memorial Hospital. One had a leg wound, one had a shoulder wound, and the third had a “graze wound,” according to Schierbaum. Of the three, two are having surgery.
According to Schierbaum, three of the injured policemen are 28 years old and have been with the department for five months. The other two officers are 31 years old and have served four years in the department.

The precise location of the shooting and its circumstances are unknown. According to Schierbaum, the officers were first dispatched to a business area.
The officers’ names were withheld for a while. Furthermore, the name of the suspect was withheld.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will look into every shooting involving an officer in accordance with department policy, according to Schierbaum.
