According to her relatives, a kid from Indiana her away after swallowing a suboxone medication that she had discovered in a backpack at a thrift shop.

On September 4, KFVS12 reported, Azana Trentman, the 18-month-old child, fell unresponsive and her parents realized something was wrong. She was then sent to the hospital. On September 8, the kid was declared deceased.

While they wait for the autopsy results, the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office stated that the toddler’s cause of death is still being investigated.

Harvard Medical School states that one drug used to treat opioid addiction is suboxone.

Azana’s grandma Tawnya Wood posted on Facebook on September 7th, stating that the child’s parents, Austen Trentman and Shayna Wood, took her to a thrift store in Dillsboro, where she was playing with a backpack as they perused the store.

“At some point Azana found something in the backpack and ingested it,” she stated. “Austen took immediate action to clear her mouth and induced vomiting since he wasn’t sure what it was. He tasted the substance and it tasted sweet, and it had a melted candy consistency. Azana acted normal so they decided it was probably candy and they continued on with their day.”

After realizing the girl needed immediate medical assistance, her parents hurried her to the hospital. She was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center after being stabilized.

Azana’s grandma stated that following many days of testing, the toxicology report revealed the chemical to be a fruit-flavored, dissolveable suboxone pill.

Despite Azana’s brief existence, her parents decided to aid three recipients by donating their daughter’s organs.

“Azana’s donation not only will save and improve the lives of 3 recipients but will also be a way for Azana to live on through them,” the girl’s grandmother stated.

As of Saturday morning, more than $19,000 had been raised through a GoFundMe page established while the kid was in the hospital prior to her death.
