BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating a collision that occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 95 near Pembroke Road, resulting in the death of one woman and the injury of another.
The incident was reported at approximately 3:30 a.m. According to the FHP, a 22-year-old woman was driving a sedan in the left turning lane of the exit ramp from southbound Interstate 95 to Pembroke Road. However, she failed to safely complete the left turn and continue eastbound on Pembroke Road.
Upon failing to complete the turn, the car’s undercarriage struck a curb on the right-hand side of eastbound Pembroke Road, just after the entrance ramp from Interstate 95.
The vehicle then spun counterclockwise, causing the right side of the car to collide with a concrete sign support pole located south of Pembroke Road. Eventually, the car came to a complete stop.
Tragically, a 25-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver sustained serious injuries. It remains unclear whether they were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
As of now, authorities have not released the identity of the deceased victim, and no further details about the incident have been made available.
