According to Farmington police, a 19-year-old woman’s body was discovered on Sunday, one day after she was reported missing.
The corpse of Mia Casto was discovered in the vicinity of Rudd Creek above Farmington, according to a news release from the Farmington Police Department.
According to investigators, Mia Casto’s family reported her missing at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Saturday.
The missing woman was found by police using K-9s, aerial drones, two Department of Public Safety helicopters, and search teams from the Davis County Search and Rescue Team.
“The Farmington City Police Department extends its deepest condolences to Mia’s family, friends, and loved ones,” according to a statement. “We also offer our gratitude to the Department of Public Safety, Davis County Search and Rescue, the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, the Centerville Police Department, and all others that aided in the search efforts.”

According to Brad MacDonald, Casto visited his home on Friday afternoon. She was probably last seen there, he said.
“It was about 12:30 in the afternoon and I was working out of my office,” he stated. “She came walking in. I thought it was one of my daughter’s friends.”
Casto was perplexed, according to MacDonald. He claimed that before she left their home and vanished, she had a brief conversation with his 16-year-old daughter.
“I told my daughter to follow her while I called the police, and so she followed her, and she walked out,” he stated. “She kind of walked over to the side of our house, and then they watched her walk across the road. There’s a trailhead that goes up into the back country up there.”

Officers showed up at his house in a matter of minutes, according to MacDonald, but Casto was not located. He claimed that it wasn’t until Saturday that friends and neighbors informed him that she had been reported missing.
“I had felt guilty all day yesterday just knowing that she was here in our house and we could have maybe stopped her or helped her more,” he stated.
According to him and his spouse, they assembled a group of pals who ran trails. According to him, they spent almost four hours on Sunday morning searching for Casto. MacDonald expressed regret that law enforcement personnel had discovered her body.
“It was very emotional,” he stated. “I think we all, especially those of us who went up and looked for her this morning, none of us knew her at all. But you feel a connection to her when you’re up there looking for her and then find out that she had passed away.”
How she died and why she might have gone missing have not been disclosed by Farmington Police. There was no more information given.
