In northeastern Texas on Wednesday morning, a van carrying 14 people flipped over multiple times, resulting in four fatalities and ten injuries.
Just after 8 a.m., the van collided in Wise County, Texas, at the crossroads of U.S. 287 and FM 1655, ejecting numerous individuals from the almost full 15-passenger van.
The Chevy Express van was traveling north when it veered off the left side of the road close to Alvord in Wise County, carrying all adult occupants. Alvord is situated roughly 70 miles to the northwest of Fort Worth.
According to Texas Highway Patrol troopers, the driver overcorrected when the van veered off the road, and three people were pronounced dead at the site. A local hospital later received the death of another.
“There were multiple ejections, and 13 out of those 14 people received some type of injury,” Sgt. Tony De La Cerda stated to NBCDFW.
Only one of the 14 passengers was using a seat belt, he claimed, and the driver was one of the people pronounced dead at the scene. The accident victim who was buckled up survived.
Eight more passengers were taken by ambulance, and three more were evacuated to local hospitals. The identities of the accident victims were all unknown.
