After a man was shot while traveling on Interstate 295 near 103rd Street, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
Tuesday morning, shortly after 6:00 a.m., responding officers located the male subject, who was in his 50s.
The man reported to the cops that he was travelling southbound on Interstate 295 with light traffic “when he heard a loud noise and thought he ran over something.”
Because the engine in his truck had stopped working, he had to pull aside. At that point, he realized that both he and his truck had been struck by gunfire.
According to the police, the man’s wound was quite slight and may have been caused by a graze shot. However, he chose not to seek medical treatment.
According to the investigators, there does not appear to be a coherent reason for the shooting.
During the limited time that investigators spent searching for evidence, the road was closed by detectives who specialize in investigating violent crimes and crime scenes.
Anyone who may have information is urged to get in touch with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500 or CrimeStoppers at (1-866) 845-TIPS.
