A woman who was burned and stabbed earlier this week informed her mother, “Momma, he tried to kill me. He was going to leaving me to die.”

But Tess Mowel (née Trotter) is still alive because of the bravery of two strangers who chance to pass by the fire.

The mother of the victim is currently searching Tennessee for the Alabama couple whose prompt assistance preserved her daughter’s life.

Tina Trotter told NBC station WSMV in Nashville, “God bless you, and I will reach out to you once my family finds out who you are. “Our family is so grateful for y’all because I wouldn’t have her today.”

The two were in town to look at an item that was for sale on Facebook Marketplace. They hurried inside to put out the fire that threatened to consume the woman and take her life as soon as they noticed smoke pouring from the small dwelling.

The event happened on Monday night. In Dickson, a small community on the western border of the Nashville metro region, firefighters first came on the scene at a home on North Charlotte Street.

According to a news statement from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, following an investigation by state and local police, Zachary Mowel, 28, beat and stabbed his wife, doused her in gasoline, and then set their home on fire.

At present, the spouse is charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated arson, aggravated domestic assault, and domestic assault.

The man admitted to the attack, according to law officials, as soon as they pulled up outside the fire.

Zachary Mowel allegedly told the cops, “I did it,” as he approached them outside his shattered and burning house. “It was me.” I said.

According to family members, the couple’s two children were in clear view of the most of the abuse.

At Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s trauma unit, she is presently recovering in stable condition.

As the since-paralyzed woman was able to talk to her mother about the night that altered their family’s existence, horrific details about the crime are beginning to surface, Tina Trotter revealed.

“The boys were sitting right there, my grandsons, and he grabbed her arm and stabbed her,” Tina Trotter stated. “She told Jackson, her oldest child, to go call 911, and he wouldn’t let him do it.”

According to her sister, the victim is now paralyzed from the waist down, has nine stab wounds in all, a collapsed lung, and third-degree burns covering her right leg.

According to court documents filed by state law enforcement, when detectives located the woman amid swirling smoke close to the back entrance of the house, they discovered a knife still embedded in her body, demonstrating the severity of that torture.

According to her sister, Tessa is not expected to ever walk again.
