Through Monday night at 8 p.m., Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, and our counties to the north and west were under a Heat Advisory, according to the National Weather Service.
The central, southern, and southwest plains will see the alignment and expansion of mid-to-upper level high pressure this week, which will extend the heat and deliver above-average temperatures for many.
Over the weekend, this high pressure system is expected to move back westward, allowing a stronger northerly flow to enter the eastern part of the system. This will bring with it colder temperatures, a weak front, and possibly a small possibility of rain.
This week will see a little bit more dust. This week, more dust from the Sahara Desert will make its way to Texas across several thousand miles over the Atlantic.

Over the previous few weeks, Saharan dust has assisted in preventing tropical formation in the Atlantic; but, there are now larger gaps in the dust and shear, which may allow fresh tropical waves to form in the upcoming weeks.
We are observing wave number one, which is located east of the Lesser Antilles. Current model group trends indicate that this wave will pass directly over Providenciales, Cuba, and eventually close to Florida by the weekend.
