Vehicle Crashes into Building, Resulting in 2 Child Deaths, 15 Injuries

Sheriff Troy Goodnough stated in a press conference on Saturday night that a woman crashed her automobile into a child’s birthday party, killing two kids and injuring fifteen others.

An 8-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy were the two siblings who were declared deceased at the scene, according to the police.

According to investigators, at approximately 3 p.m., a woman crashed her car through a wall of the Swan Boat Club in Monroe County, Michigan, stopping 25 feet within.

Fifteen people were assisted on the spot by first responders. Nine of them had severe, perhaps fatal injuries, and were flown by ambulance or helicopter to nearby hospitals.

Six adults and three children made up the nine persons that were transferred. According to the sheriff, several people at the site were driven to hospitals in a private vehicle.

According to Goodnough, the 66-year-old suspect was taken into custody at Monroe County Jail after being accused of operating a car while drunk and causing death.

Sheriff Goodnough said that first responders described the scene as “extremely chaotic.”

The investigation is still ongoing regarding the party’s attendance. Situated approximately thirty miles south of Detroit on Lake Erie lies the Swan Boat Club.

In a social media statement, the hospital stated, “Please keep everyone involved in your thoughts and prayers. We thank everyone for their concern and prayers.”
